Born in Philadelphia and raised in the Quaker tradition, architect Robert Venturi was commissioned by Friends Neighborhood Guild to build Guild House from 1960-1963 out of a demonstrated need for communal housing to support low-income seniors. Today, this is a beautiful, convenient and affordable place to live. With support from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s (PHS) City Harvest program, residents and staff are building a vegetable garden and planting vibrant native flower gardens to support the health of both residents and the local ecosystem
